I currently live in Indiana but I have lived in several other states as well and they all have one thing in common: Everyone seems to think life would be soooo much better if they only lived somewhere else.
Let me give you an example. I hired a new associate to work at my business and in the interview she mentioned she had traveled in Colorado. Since I was born and raised in the Centennial State I asked where she went and commented that she drove right through my old stomping grounds. Then it happened, just like the many times before as this conversation unfolds: "Why the HELL did you move HERE?!"
Indiana, for those who have never been here, is a very nice place. Four full seasons, kinda hot in the summer and kinda cold for a week or two in the winter but beautiful in the spring and absolutely GORGEOUS in the fall. People are mostly nice. Jobs are available in just about any kind of field you want. Taxes are moderate. Crime is low. Cost of living is reasonable. Professional sports are available. Collegiate sports are great. The Indianapolis symphony is good. They have a race every Memorial Day that draws in a few people.
It is a nice place. Every place I have lived has had its ups and downs. So why is it that seemingly everyone is unhappy about the place they live and want to move somewhere "nicer?"
Bloom where you are planted baby!! Live your life and enjoy it. Look around at the possibilities and realize they are limitless no matter where you are.
Rant over, calming down.
